✦ Privacy & Security

Your data, your rules.

FlowVista is view-only and privacy-first. No bank credentials, no open-banking APIs, no ads, and no sale of your financial history — ever.

🔒
Your data, not our asset
Your parsed transactions live in your own private, encrypted account — protected by row-level security so no other account can ever read them. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
👁
View-only, always
FlowVista cannot move money, pay bills, or initiate transactions. It reads your exports and shows you patterns — that's the entire surface area.
🔑
Zero credentials
No OAuth flows, no banking passwords, no Plaid-style linking. You upload a CSV or PDF you exported yourself — the same files your accountant would use.
🇨🇦

✦ FAQ

Questions, answered

Still deciding? These are the questions we hear most.

How does FlowVista get my data?
You export a CSV from your bank or a PDF investment statement from your brokerage, then upload it into FlowVista. There is no OAuth, no open-banking API, and no third-party aggregator. Your file is parsed, categorized, and stored in your own private, encrypted account — protected by row-level security so no other account can ever read it.
Is my financial data safe?
Your transactions are stored in your own private account, encrypted at rest, and protected by row-level security so only you can read them. FlowVista has no access to your bank and we never sell or share your data. The optional Ask feature sends a financial summary (never raw transactions or account numbers) to a third-party AI provider to answer your questions — this only happens when you press Ask. You can permanently delete everything from Settings → Data at any time.
Why CSV uploads instead of connecting to my bank?
Most Canadian banks (RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC) require that you never share your online banking credentials with third parties — doing so may affect your fraud protection guarantee. Apps that use Plaid, Flinks, or similar aggregators ask for those credentials. FlowVista takes a different approach: you download a CSV or PDF from your bank yourself and upload it here. Your bank credentials never leave your bank, your fraud protection stays fully intact, and FlowVista never has any access to your accounts. Read why CSV uploads are safer →
Which Canadian banks are supported?
RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, Wealthsimple, EQ Bank, Tangerine, Simplii, Desjardins, and National Bank are supported with dedicated format-aware parsers. For investments, we also parse PDFs from Manulife, Sun Life, Canada Life, Fidelity, iA Financial, and any major brokerage. Any bank that exports a CSV with date, description, and amount columns will also work — FlowVista auto-detects the layout. See step-by-step export guides for each bank →
Is FlowVista free?
Yes. FlowVista is currently free during the Canadian early-access launch. A premium tier for unlimited periods, cloud sync, and advanced forecasting is planned for later in 2026 — early users keep free access as we grow.
Can FlowVista move money or pay bills?
No. FlowVista is strictly view-only. It reads your transaction exports and shows you patterns, forecasts, and answers — it has no connection to your bank and cannot initiate any transactions.
How does the investment analysis work?
Upload a PDF statement from your brokerage and FlowVista automatically extracts your holdings, account types (TFSA, RRSP, Non-Registered, etc.), and market values. It then benchmarks your portfolio against the S&P/TSX Composite and a risk-matched Canadian ETF over 10 years — showing annualized returns, volatility, Sharpe ratio, and a portfolio alignment score. You also get personalized recommendations including MER warnings, rebalancing tips, and tax-efficient placement advice.
Is FlowVista giving me financial advice?
FlowVista provides financial information, education, and general recommendations — not personalized financial advice. The investment analysis is based on publicly available benchmark data and standard portfolio metrics. Think of it as the analysis your bank advisor should be giving you, presented clearly. For decisions about your specific situation, consult a licensed financial advisor. A full disclaimer is available in the app.
How accurate is the auto-categorization?
Out of the box, typical Canadian transactions are categorized correctly around 90–95% of the time. You can override any category inline, save a rule (“always tag PRESTO as Transportation”), and FlowVista will apply it across your history going forward.
What happens if I close the tab?
Your pay periods, bills, transactions, and goals persist in your private account. Close the tab, come back a week later, and everything is still there. Need a clean slate? Settings → Data → Clear All Data wipes everything permanently.
Who's behind FlowVista?
FlowVista is an independent product built by a small Canadian team. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we don't have investors pushing us to monetize your financial history. If you want to reach us, the best channel is hello@flowvista.ca.
