Terms of Service
By creating an account or using FlowVista, you agree to these terms. They are written in plain English, cover both parties fairly, and are shorter than most. Please read them.
- FlowVista is a view-only personal-finance dashboard — not financial, tax, or investment advice.
- You own your data. We don't sell it or share it with advertisers.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you upload and for keeping your password safe.
- The service is provided "as is" during early access; we'll do our best but can't guarantee uptime.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
1. Acceptance
By creating a FlowVista account, signing in, or uploading a file to the service, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use FlowVista.
You must be at least 18 years old to use FlowVista (the age of contractual capacity in Ontario, Canada). FlowVista is not directed at, and must not be used by, anyone under 18.
2. What FlowVista is
FlowVista is a personal cashflow and banking analytics dashboard. You upload bank-account CSVs — and investment- or mortgage-statement PDFs — that you export yourself from your financial institution. FlowVista parses, categorizes, and visualizes that data so you can understand your own finances.
FlowVista is view-only by design. It cannot move money, pay bills, initiate transfers, open or close accounts, or take any action on your behalf at any financial institution. It reads files you provide and shows you patterns — that is the entire surface area.
FlowVista is an information and educational tool — not a registered investment adviser, portfolio manager, securities dealer, financial planner, or tax preparer. Everything it shows you — cashflow figures, category breakdowns, net-worth totals, investment benchmarks, forecasts, savings-rate and status indicators, and answers from the Ask feature — is general information generated from the data you upload and the general rules built into the app. It is not tailored to your personal situation and is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, account, or product.
The “Ask” feature uses AI. Its answers are generated automatically by a large language model and can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong — including inventing or misstating numbers, or misreading your uploaded data. They are general information only, never advice. Always check important figures against your own statements.
Accuracy is not guaranteed. FlowVista reads only the files you upload; it does not connect to your bank and cannot confirm your data is complete, current, or correct — a single missing or mis-categorized transaction can change the totals you see. Before making any financial, tax, or investment decision, consult a qualified professional (a Canadian CPA, CFP, or licensed investment advisor, as appropriate) licensed in your province. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on what FlowVista shows you.
3. Your account
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy of the email address you register with.
- Keeping your password secret and your account secure — we recommend a password manager.
- All activity that happens under your account.
If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, change your password immediately and email hello@flowvista.ca.
4. Your data and your content
You own the data you upload to FlowVista. We do not claim ownership of your transactions, bills, or net-worth entries. The licence you grant us is strictly the minimum required to run the service for you: to store, parse, categorize, and display your data back to you inside your own account.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any data you provide — typically, this just means it's your own financial data from accounts you own or are authorized to manage.
5. Acceptable use
When using FlowVista, you agree not to:
- Attempt to access another user's account or data.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service, or breach security or authentication measures, without our prior written consent.
- Use automated scripts or scrapers to abuse rate limits or exfiltrate the service.
- Upload malware, pirated content, or data you don't have the right to process.
- Use FlowVista to launder money, evade taxes, or facilitate any illegal activity.
- Resell, rent, or sublicense the service to third parties.
If we believe you are violating these rules, we may suspend or terminate your account. For serious violations, we may also report the conduct to appropriate authorities.
6. Pricing and billing
FlowVista is currently free during the Canadian early-access launch. No credit card is required to create an account. If we introduce paid plans later, we will clearly communicate pricing before any charge is applied, and users who joined during early access will keep free access to the early-access feature set as the product grows.
7. Intellectual property
The FlowVista name, logo, codebase, design, and documentation are owned by FlowVista. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the code or visual design without our permission. Your data inside FlowVista, however, is yours — see section 4.
8. Third-party services
FlowVista relies on trusted third parties to operate — currently Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting and cookieless landing-page analytics), Resend (delivery of optional reminder and digest emails), Groq (the optional Ask assistant), Yahoo Finance (benchmark market data), and — only if you choose to sign in with it — Google (OAuth sign-in). A complete list, along with what each provider processes and where, is disclosed in our Privacy Policy. If any of these providers changes or fails, it may affect FlowVista's availability.
9. Availability and changes
We will do our best to keep FlowVista online and working, but we do not guarantee uptime, error-free operation, or the permanent availability of any specific feature. During early access, expect occasional downtime for deploys, maintenance, or infrastructure changes.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. If a change removes a feature you depend on, we will try to give advance notice and a path to export your data.
10. Termination
By you: you can stop using FlowVista at any time, and you can permanently delete your entire account and all of its data immediately in the app via Settings → Data Management → Delete account (a confirmation step protects against accidents). If you can't access the app, email hello@flowvista.ca and we will remove it within 14 days.
By us: we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or that have been inactive for an extended period (we will notify you by email before deleting an inactive account). If we shut down the service entirely, we will give at least 90 days' notice and a way to export your data.
11. Disclaimers
FlowVista is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that categorization will be 100% accurate, or that the information displayed will be free of omissions. You use the service at your own risk.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FlowVista and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or, if you paid nothing, CAD $100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, personal injury or death caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including any non-waivable rights you have under consumer-protection law such as the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario).
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and FlowVista agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for any dispute arising out of these terms, except that either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@flowvista.ca and allow 30 days for us to resolve the issue informally.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of FlowVista after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service before the effective date and, optionally, delete your account.
